New genomics lab at Norton Cancer Institute is now a reality

It was this time last year when the Steven Vanover Foundation pledged $250,000 to the Norton Healthcare Foundation to fund new genomics lab technology at Norton Cancer Institute (NCI). We are thrilled to announce that the on-site genomic testing is officially up and running!

This state-of-the-art technology is the first of its kind in Louisville and will take cancer care to a new level in our region. This highly specialized testing makes it possible to diagnose and treat cancer more precisely and to tailor advanced treatments based on a tumor’s specific genetic composition. Having this testing on site also cuts in half the time it took to get test results from an outside laboratory.

As this is a milestone for cancer care in our region, it is a milestone for the Steven Vanover Foundation. The genomic testing at NCI would not be a reality without the generosity of our many donors and community. A significant portion of the funds that we donated were raised at our first Flights to Fight Cancer gala in 2019. Thank you to everyone who donated, attended, and bid on auction items.
